Historical OverviewLeRoy Julius Anderson was born 7 April 1915 in Central, Bannock County, Idaho. Central was a tiny community in the valley between Lava Hot Springs and Soda Springs. Today there isn't much that remains in Central except for a couple of farms, the cemetery, and a golf course.
LeRoy was the son of Swedish immigrants, John Albert Anderson and Sophia Karolina Whelmina Bjorklund. He was their oldest child. John was previously married to Annie Sophia Anderson, and they had 3 children; Clarence Albert Anderson, Annie Irene Anderson, and Melvin Gustaf Anderson. LeRoy had two younger brothers; Everett John Anderson and Heber George Anderson.
At the young age of 3, LeRoy's father passed away on 2 June 1918 in Central. His mother, Sophia, later married Charles Broady, and raised LeRoy and his two brothers. On 9 November 1937 LeRoy and Ruth Kynaston married in Ogden, Weber County, Utah. Ruth and LeRoy's first child was a stillborn baby born 5 March 1939 in Bannock County, Idaho. The baby was buried in the Chesterfield Cemetery in Chesterfield. Two more children were born to LeRoy and Ruth; Roylene Ann Anderson and Cheryl Anderson. LeRoy and Ruth divorced on 26 October 1956 in Bannock County. LeRoy later married Ruth M. Damewood on 24 March 1961 in Bannock County. - Last updated 7 June 2020 |
