Ole was very musical throughout his life and later played in the Salem Silver Band. This band owned a dance hall where the old Salem Fort was once located and played for dances there a number of years around 1890. This photo was likely taken in the 1890s. Ole Soren (front-left holding the drum sticks) was my 3rd-great grandfather. He was born 5 October 1842 in Oppland, Norway. He immigrated to the United States prior to the Civil War. During the Civil War he was a drummer boy. He later migrated to Utah where he died on 19 February 1902 in Salem, Utah County, Utah.
